In the late 1840's, Henry Christy returned from Constantinople with a sample of loop pile fabric. By 1851 his brother had patented the means to reproduce this cloth, showing the first towels at the Great Exhibition. A set was presented to Queen Victoria, who immediately ordered more of Christy's 'Royal Turkish Towels'. 150 years later, Christy offers towels in a choice of over 60 fashion-forward colours in addition to robes, bedlinen and decorative accessories.
